In the Cherkasy region, near the village of Klishchentsi, two poachers were caught, who fished for 3,141,000 hryvnias.

Violations were discovered by eco-inspectors and the company for the maintenance of water bodies during patrolling of the Sulynsky Reserve, reports State Environmental Inspection on Telegram.

The press service said that the patrol noticed how two men were pulling two sledges with freshly caught fish along the creek.

It is noted that the bags contained:

  • carp — 5 pieces;
  • fathead — 2 pieces;
  • pike perch — 7 pieces;
  • carp — 43 pieces;
  • roach — 20 pieces;
  • bruise — 10 pieces;
  • bream — 239 pieces.

The report emphasized that illegal catch and fishing tools were seized from the poachers. Investigative and operational actions are currently underway.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Cherkasy the court found the poacher guilty in the commission of a criminal offense and forced him to compensate 575.4 thousand hryvnias, as well as to pay a fine of 17 thousand hryvnias. In May 2022, the man, together with another violator, caught more than 1.3 million hryvnias during the spawning ban.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, poachers in Ukraine caused damage to the environment during the last week of October more than 10 million hryvnias in damages. Anti-leader regions were Poltava, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions.
