Since the start of its work in September 2024, the Decarbonization Fund JSC has financed 22 projects totaling UAH 244 million.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the report of the Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, Hanna Zamazeyeva.

According to her, in 3 months of operation, the Fund has provided loans for the implementation of 22 projects. The expected resource savings after their implementation will amount to more than 36 thousand MWh per year.

The distribution of projects by area is as follows:

  • 6 projects involve the installation of solar generation;
  • 11 projects are being implemented under the ESCO mechanism at water utilities, kindergartens, and hospitals;
  • 5 projects promote the replacement of fuel minerals with alternative types.

The projects are localized in Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Lviv regions.

The Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving also said that the Decarbonization Fund will finance energy audits of state-owned enterprises, installation of solar panels and energy storage systems on the buildings of central executive authorities (CEAs).

According to Hanna Zamazeyeva, the agency she heads received 2,000 applications for energy audits and energy certification of CEB buildings in the second half of 2024 and 1,000 applications for the installation of solar panels on such buildings.

It is expected that in 2025, the Decarbonization Fund will receive UAH 1.75 billion in revenues from the carbon tax.

The figures announced by Hanna Zamazeyeva differ from those provided by the Energy Efficiency Fund in its report on the results of last year's work. It refers to 17 projects totaling UAH 180 million 893.7 thousand.

In late January, EcoPolitic published an exclusive interview with Olesia Mishchenko, the Chairman of the Board of the Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine. In it, she answered the most common questions about the work of the institution, and also spoke about plans for 2025.

We also talked about 6 key recommendations for decarbonizing buildings from OECD experts.
