Production of cheap "green" electricity will save money for reconstruction

The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said that the restoration of housing stock in the city will be carried out using the latest energy-saving technologies.

This, among other things, will make it possible to restrain the increase in tariffs for communal services, he said in an interview with the "News. Topic of the Day" project.

Terekhov emphasized that the city plans to use a number of green technologies in order to have cheap electricity. This will help not to increase fares for city electric transport, as well as tariffs for other communal services. However, he did not reveal the details.

He emphasized that the production of cheap green electricity will save the financial resources necessary for the reconstruction of Kharkiv after the war, in particular according to modern European standards.

Terekhov noted that even for the reconstruction of Kharkiv alone, significant, particularly financial, assistance from partner countries will be needed. Reconstruction will take place according to the General Plan, which will be presented on June 20. It will be based on the economic development of the city.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on March 14, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Government's Priority Action Plan for 2023, one of the key tasks of which is energy security. Reconstruction in 4 directions, namely energy, housing, critical infrastructure and demining, will begin as early as 2023.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the city of Irpin, Kyiv region, within the framework of the state program VidnovyDIM, the first four houses for which condominium applications were submitted were restored. The program provides grants on a free and non-refundable basis – 100% of the cost of works and materials for the restoration of war-damaged buildings.
