The former head of the Department of the State Environmental Inspection of the Carpathian District was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison with confiscation of property for accepting a bribe.
In May 2021, the official received a bribe from an entrepreneur in the form of fuel coupons, worth almost 57 thousand hryvnias, reports Office of the Prosecutor General in Telegram.
"For such a reward, he guaranteed a positive solution to the issue of reducing fines and not bringing the businessman to criminal liability for the detected violations on the site he used," the press service said.
The message added that the official was exposed immediately after receiving a bribe on the territory of a gas station in the village of Gerinya, Kaluska district.
It is noted that the convict held the position of head of the Department of State Environmental Supervision in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The court found the former official guilty of obtaining an illegal benefit under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The message added that the court also deprived him of the right to hold positions in state and local self-government bodies for three years.
