NAEK "Energoatom" became the largest payer of eco-tax

Eco-activists of the public organization SaveDnipro compared the environmental taxes of 2021 and 2020 in order to to see the main pre-war trends.

Their research showed that polluters paid 5,435,566,210 hryvnias in eco-taxes in 2021, which is 5.3% more than in 2020 (5,165,818,000 hryvnias), the press release of Savednipro reports.

Traditionally, the biggest payers in 2021 were:

  • NAEK ENERGOATOM – UAH 1,037,006,260;
  • DTEK ZAHIDENERGO – UAH 686,689,900;
  • CENTRENERGO – UAH 506,121,840;
  • DTEK DNIPROENERGO – UAH 393,511,400;
  • ARCELORMITTAL KRYVYI RIH – UAH 339,485,030.

In 2021, polluters paid to the budget:

  • 2,051,004.63 thousand hryvnias of eco-tax for emissions into atmospheric air;
  • 149,653.22 thousand hryvnias – for discharges of pollutants directly into water bodies;
  • 1,125,674.61 thousand hryvnias - for placing waste in specially designated places or facilities;
  • 1,035,537.40 thousand hryvnias – for the generation and/or temporary storage of radioactive waste;
  • 1,047,850.07 thousand hryvnias – for emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere;
  • UAH 29,775.68 thousand – other payments.

The Tax Code defines environmental tax, as state-wide mandatory payment, which is made from the actual volumes of emissions into the atmospheric air, discharges of pollutants into water bodies, disposal of waste, the actual volume of radioactive waste temporarily stored by their producers, the actual volume of radioactive waste generated and the actual volume of radioactive waste , accumulated until April 1, 2009.
