The final amount of damages resulting from this tragedy is still not determined

Annual energy losses due to the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP amount to approximately 1.5 to 2 billion kWh of lost generation, which is equivalent to UAH 8-10 billion.

Ihor Syrota, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, told Radio Liberty's Pryazovia News project.

But the worst thing for our country is that we have lost 35% of our fresh water supply, he added.

According to the head of Ukrhydroenergo, due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the industry and agricultural sector of Kherson region lost up to 94% of water, and Dnipro region – up to 70%.

Ukrhydroenergo believes that the final amount of Ukraine's losses due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam will be known after the losses of the agricultural and industrial sectors are calculated.

On January 4, Svitlana Hrynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, announced a figure of $14 billion in losses on the Rada TV channel.

On June 6, 2024, on the anniversary of the environmental disaster caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam, EcoPolitic prepared a comprehensive material about this tragedy, its consequences, and what preceded it.
