DTEK and Danish wind giant Vestas have agreed to build the second phase of the Tiligul wind farm, which will increase its capacity to 500 MW, or 384 MW.
The memorandum on the completion of the construction of the largest wind farm in Eastern Europe was signed at the UN Climate Conference COP28, DTEK reports on Telegram.
DTEK called these agreements historic.
It is noted that the second stage will consist of 64 wind turbines. After its launch, the wind farm will be able to produce about 1.7 TWh of electricity annually. This is enough for the needs of 900 thousand families.
The project is expected to reduce annual carbon emissions by 1.7 million tons annually.
The message emphasized that DTEK is ready to start construction of the second phase of the wind farm in the 2nd quarter of 2024, and to finish construction at the end of 2025. The gradual connection to the network of installed wind turbines should start from the end of 2024.
It is noted that the total amount of investments in the project, which is supported by the European Commission and the governments of Ukraine and Denmark, will exceed €650 million.
"This is another evidence of the high confidence of Western investors in the DTEK Group, which has repeatedly confirmed the reputation of a responsible partner. We believe in the victory of Ukraine and are not waiting for the end of the war to attract our own and Western capital in the creation of new infrastructure. The Tyligul wind farm will significantly increase the stability of the energy system, help to strengthen the energy security of the country", – noted the general director of DTEK Maksym Timchenko.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in May in Mykolaiv Oblast, the first phase of the Tyligul wind power plant with a capacity of 114 MW from 19 wind turbines was launched.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the company "DTEK VDE" has started preparations for the construction of a powerful wind park in the Poltava region on the territory of the Globinsk community.
