Investors will be exempted from a number of taxes and import duties

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed draft law No. 8138 "On state support of investment projects with significant investments in Ukraine", which is extended to the production of biogas and biomethane.

This will make the construction of new biogas and biomethane plants more attractive to potential investors, the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the effect of this document, known as the investment law, applies in particular to the production of liquefied or compressed biogas.

The message emphasized that the draft law exempts investors from a number of taxes, as well as import duty when importing new equipment and components.

"Thanks to this law, the state is taking another important step to create favorable conditions for the development of the field of biogas and biomethane production in Ukraine. The possibility of our communities becoming energy-independent and economically developed depends on the deployment of projects in these areas," said Viktor Bilko, deputy head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency.

Earlier, Ecopolitic wrote, that on August 9, The Verkhovna Rada as a whole adopted the government's draft law No. 8138, known as the Law on Investments, the effect of which will extend to the field of waste processing.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in July the Verkhovna Rada registered draft law No. 9456 “On customs clearance of biomethane”, which is designed to unblock the export of biogas to the EU.
