Businesses that took part in the government’s pilot scheme involving a simplified procedure for issuing waste treatment permits must submit data covering the entire period from September 2024. The Ministry of Economy wishes to collect this data with a view to possible legislative changes.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy and the Environment.
This refers to those businesses that have taken advantage of Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1003 of 30 August 2024 ‘On the implementation of a pilot project concerning a simplified procedure for obtaining a licence to carry out waste treatment operations’.
Companies are now being asked to provide information on the volumes and types of waste processed under the terms of the specified permit for the period from 4 September 2024 to 4 September 2026, in accordance with the form.
The Ministry of Economy added that this is necessary in order to draw up a report on the trial and to develop proposals for making the relevant amendments to legislation.
As previously reported by EcoPolitic, the resolution applied only to waste that is non-hazardous and has no significant impact on the environment.
However, for most businesses, two years were still not enough to obtain an EIA report — some had not even begun the process. Businesses complained en masse about the length of the process and the excessive bureaucracy involved.
In September, the Ministry of Economy announced that it intended to amend Government Resolution No. 1328 “On the Approval of the Procedure for the Issuance, Refusal to Issue and Revocation of Permits for Waste Treatment Operations”. The date after which participants in the pilot scheme are required to obtain a permit to carry out waste treatment operations is 1 April 2027.
