Наtional Park "Holosiivskyi" is the only large natural area located in the heart of a major city. However, like all places frequented by people, it suffers from littering. Therefore, animal rights advocates from UAnimals invite Kyiv residents to join a large-scale clean-up event next Saturday, June 20, at one of the most polluted locations.

As reported on the organization's page, they want to mark the third anniversary of the UAnimals volunteer community with this meaningful activity.

Threat to animals

Animal rights activists remind that Holosiivskyi National Park is home to more than 70 species of rare plants and animals. Litter left by people can pose a danger to them.

The clean-up will take place in the area near the highway, as drivers and passengers often "add" their share to the park's litter problem. They also plan to go deeper into the forest zone, where they intend to collect old trash that has accumulated in the ecosystem over the years.

Organizational details

UAnimals informs that participants in the event will be provided with transportation to and from the park, as well as all necessary equipment and a supply of drinking water.

It is recommended to dress as comfortably as possible for the clean-up.

All details can be found at this link.

“Clean-up is our way to care for animals and the environment that are under threat due to pollution. This is why we regularly organize clean-ups in national parks, reserves, forests, and even shelters, and we also call on all responsible organizations and concerned individuals to organize clean-ups at any locations on their own,” emphasized UAnimals.

EcoPolitic reminds waste is harmful to the environment and can become a source of income for communities. For example, a homeowners association in Vinnytsia earns money for courtyard improvements thanks to waste sorting activities, while a community in the Kharkiv region saves tens of thousands of hryvnias each month on waste removal by pressing plastic waste.
