The funds will be used for the green recovery of our country

Ukraine is launching a new joint project with the European Union, EU4Green Recovery East, which will last for 4 years.

This was announced on Facebook by Svitlana Hrynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

According to her, the program has a total budget of €21.5 million. The EU4Green Recovery East project aims to develop a circular economy, sustainable water management and environmental data management. This initiative covers the Eastern Partnership countries and assists them in implementing reforms.

The preparation of a work plan to adapt the Program's activities to the specific needs of Ukraine's green recovery has already begun, the minister said. Technical meetings of specialists in the relevant fields are planned in the future.

The following organizations and institutions are involved in the implementation of the EU4Green Recovery East project:

  • Expertise France;
  • French International Office for Water Resources;
  • Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD);
  • United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE);
  • United Nations Industrial Development Organization;
  • Austrian Environment Agency.

The minister also said that the Ministry of Environment, together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine, is developing a draft law “On Green Recovery”, which is fully consistent with the Green Taxonomy and EU experience.

Earlier, EcoPolitics informed that the EU has published the Clean Industry Agreement and briefly described its main points. We also reported that, according to the European Commission, the EU is significantly behind its plans to achieve zero pollution by 2030.
