Vinnytsia-based SPERCO UKRAINE, which produces pharmaceuticals, has launched the first stage of its own solar power plant (SPPP).
The details of this project were reported by the deputy mayor of Vinnytsia, Andriy Ocheretnyy, and the local TV channel VITA.
The heliostation was placed on the roof of the production facilities. It consists of 320 solar panels, each with a capacity of 480 watts.
The official said that the peak capacity of the solar power plant is 154 kW. It is enough to meet 15% of the company's total energy consumption. In summer, when the sun will be much more active, the company expects this figure to increase to 25%.

Andrei Ocheretny also said that in the near future they plan to install additional generating equipment here and reach a capacity of 500 kW. This will allow to cover up to 90% of the company's needs in electricity.
It is predicted that the payback period of the whole project will be 3-4 years. The company has already invested UAH 6.5 mln in its realization and claims for partial compensation of expenses for purchase of equipment installed for RES power generation from Vinnytsia city council. “SPERCO UKRAINE” expects to receive UAH 1 million from the city budget.
The Deputy Mayor reminded that over the last 2 years more than 90 local enterprises of Vinnytsia have already started using “green” energy. In total, they generate 17 MW of electricity.
