Law enforcement officers detained a luxury vintage Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II that was attempted to be imported into Ukraine under a fake certificate of environmental compliance.

This was reported by the State Customs Service and the BES.

According to the decision of a judge of the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv, detectives of the BES Territorial Office in Kyiv region arrested the illegally imported car made in 1976.

However, the certificate for the Rolls Royce turned out to be fake. At the request of customs officials, the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice concluded that the vintage car did not meet the Euro 2 environmental standard. According to experts, the average cost of similar cars is currently about UAH 1.2 million.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada has postponed the transition to Euro 6 for 2 years for trucks and buses.
