The radiation background in the whole city is normal

As of 8 a.m. on November 25, the level of air pollution on the right bank of Kyiv is low, while on the left bank it is high.

This is reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, citing data from the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the KCSA.

Officials said the likely cause of the temporary deterioration in air quality on the left bank is meteorological conditions (in particular, low wind speed), which contribute to the accumulation and retention of harmful impurities in the surface air layer.

As of 11:00 a.m., the Department's real-time air quality monitoring map also showed an excess on the right bank, at the observation point at 22 Kitaivska Street in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv.

In order to reduce the negative impact on health, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine recommended to citizens:

  • if possible, avoid being outdoors;
  • keep windows and doors closed;
  • maintain water balance – drink a lot of water;
  • use a mask or respirator, as well as an air purifier;
  • do wet cleaning of premises.

"People with diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems should pay special attention to these tips," the ministry emphasized.

Earlier, on November 8, EcoPolitics reported on polluted air, which was coming to Ukraine from the west and north.
