Installation of a 120 kW solar power plant was completed in one of the maternity homes in the Svyatoshyn district of the capital.
This was reported on the official portal of Kyiv.
The mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, said that now, in the event of a power outage, the medical facility will have its own source of uninterrupted power. It will ensure, in particular, the operation of the equipment of the operating unit and the neonatal intensive care unit.
In addition to the panels, solar and hybrid inverters were installed in the medical facility. They will allow not only to receive electrical energy from the sun, but also to store it.
This project was implemented with funding from the German government.
Klitschko recalled that in the summer, Kyiv signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the implementation of alternative energy with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
"Thanks to the help of German partners, the capital is currently implementing a project to equip three medical facilities with autonomous solar power plants," said the head of the city.
The total budget of this project is €500,000. They are provided to the capital on an irrevocable basis. All medical institutions participating in the project have the necessary areas for installing panels. The power of each station is calculated depending on the needs of the facility.
The other day, Ecopolitic told that she was in Lutsk launched a solar power plant with a capacity of 0.6 MW, which will almost completely cover the electricity needs of the local water supply company.
