The agreement is aimed at creating conditions for attracting international technical assistance

The draft law "On Ratification of the Agreement on Financing the Danube Regional Program (Interreg VI B)" has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.

This was reported by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Taras Melnychuk on Telegram.

It is reported that the draft law proposes to ratify the Financing Agreement for the Danube Regional Program (Interreg VI B), which aims to create conditions for attracting international technical assistance from the European Union for the period 2021-2027. This program is one of the initiatives of transnational cooperation (Interreg B) and is a key element of the EU's neighborhood policy.

"Ukraine's full participation in the Program will make it possible to attract EU funding to support the development of Ukrainian regions participating in the Program," Melnychuk reports.

As it became known, the main goal of the program is to promote the development of projects that meet common interests and are aimed at achieving the following goals:

  • Smarter Danube region;
  • A greener, low-carbon Danube region;
  • More social Danube region;
  • Better management of cooperation.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Ukraine joined the implementation of the international project "LIFE WILDisland", to restore natural islands, floodplains and improve the hydrological regime of the Danube River.
