Lviv has adopted a comprehensive environmental program to protect the environment, ensure environmental safety and rational use of natural resources. Its implementation should also improve the environmental situation and slow down the pace of human impact on the environment.

The program defines strategic directions for planning environmental protection measures, according to the Lviv City Council.

"The program was developed by the Public Environmental Council, and public hearings were held. It also defines the areas of funding for the city's environmental sector. Of course, they are larger than what we can finance from the environmental fund, but this allows us to attract investments and grants to implement environmental measures," said Halyna Mykytchak, head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv City Council.

According to Halyna Mykytchak, it is only on the basis of such a program that the management can distribute the environmental fund in the future.

The comprehensive environmental program was created to improve the lives of residents and raise environmental awareness, as well as to intensify public participation in environmental issues.

As Ecopolitic previously reported, in Rivne, the city authorities signed a memorandum of cooperation with the State Agency for Energy Efficiency, which will help the city develop a concept of energy efficiency measures and reduce emissions of harmful substances into the air.
