In Kyiv, environmental inspectors have found pollution in the Horikhuvata Ponds, which are located in Maksym Rylsky Park and are part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park.
The content of ammonium nitrogen in pond No. 1 exceeded the norm by 1.21 times, and chloride ion – by 1.18 times, the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Capital District reports on Facebook.
It is noted that the contamination was found in Pond No. 1, where a stormwater drainage system pipe is installed. However, all the ponds are connected by a cascade.
The report said that environmental inspectors turned to the prosecutor's office and reported a criminal offense.
As you know, this park is a part of the Holosiiv National Park – the only protected area in Ukraine located within the metropolis.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in March 2023 in Kyiv, eco-inspectors discovered pollution of the Horikhuvat ponds in the Holosiiv National Nature Park. The content of some pollution indicators exceeded the maximum allowable concentrations by more than 6 times.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, public figure Maksym Bakhmatov called for marking the dubious order of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources No. 308, which turned the protected area of the Holosiiv forest in Kyiv into a farm.
