The first one was launched at the Kyiv Innovation Terminal (KIT) in early 2024

Nova Poshta has equipped one of its Kyiv terminals with a solar power plant (SPP).

The announcement was made on the website of the logistics company.

The solar power plant has a capacity of 700 kW and covers an area of 3000 square meters. The project cost UAH 13.5 million.

Later, Nova Poshta intends to install a second phase of solar power plants that will double the available capacity: from 700 to 1,400 kW.

It is planned that in the summer, when the plants are operating at full capacity, they will be able to fully meet the terminals' electricity needs during the day.

Since the terminals operate around the clock, the logistics company has also invested in energy storage facilities (ESF). They will accumulate previously generated electricity and supply it to the company's grid or even to an external grid if necessary.

Nova Poshta plans to equip 5 of the largest terminals in Ukraine with solar power plants and energy storage facilities. Work is already underway at three of them.

The company also shared the results of the first installed solar power plant. Employees say that on sunny winter days, it operates at 35% of its capacity. On a cloudy winter day, the peak generation capacity is up to 17% of the SPP's rated capacity.

According to Nova Poshta, the company has invested UAH 300 million in energy autonomy in recent years, and plans to spend another UAH 150 million this year. In this way, the postal operator wants to reduce dependence on centralized power supply and promote the development of clean energy in Ukraine.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in April 2024, Nova Poshta announced the creation of Nova Energia, a company specializing in regular energy generation, including solar and gas.
