The first stage of the reconstructed wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 1350 m3/day has been opened in Pustomyty, Lviv region.
Upon completion of the reconstruction of the second stage, the capacity of the facilities will reach 2700 m3/day, and the efficiency of wastewater treatment will be 88-99.2%, the press service of the Lviv Regional Military Administration reports.
According to Oksana Viytyk, acting director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, the wastewater treatment plant in Pustomyty has been in operation since 1980 and has long been in need of renovation. Now the wastewater will undergo complete mechanical and biological treatment and disinfection using modern energy-saving technologies. As a result, clean and environmentally friendly water will be discharged into water bodies.
It is noted that the cost of the reconstruction of the 1st stage amounted to 38.8 million hryvnias, and the 2nd stage was supposed to reach 13 million hryvnias, but it is currently being adjusted. The work was carried out with money from the regional environmental protection fund, state and local budgets.
In the message, it was said that in the first stage of the project in Pustomyty, from 2019, the existing sewage treatment facilities were reconstructed. It is planned that the reconstruction of the II stage will be completed in 2024 with money from the local budget and other possible sources of financing.
"Implementation of the project will have a positive impact not only on the territory of Pustomytivska hromada, but also on other communities of Lviv region, because thanks to the successful implementation of the works, the soil and water of the Stavchanka River, as well as the Dniester River, to which it belongs, will be protected from pollution by untreated effluents," she said Viytyk
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Lviv region, in the village of Malechkovychi of the Solonkivska territorial community, they began to build a modern sewage treatment plant consisting of 6 biodigester modules with a total capacity of 1200 m3/day and an access road to the plant.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the budget of the Environmental Protection Program for 2024 in the amount of UAH 49.2 million was approved in the Lviv region. For the second year in a row, wastewater treatment will be a priority project for funding.
