The treatment facilities should be built by the end of 2025

In the Lviv Region, in the village of Malechkovychi of the Solonkiv Territorial Community, construction of a modern sewage treatment plant with 6 modules of biodiscs with a total capacity of 1200m3/day and an access road to the station began.

The total cost of the project reaches 159.7 million hryvnias, reports the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration on Facebook.

It is noted that the new treatment facilities will allow:

  • to ensure a high-quality and highly efficient drainage system;
  • implement modern wastewater treatment technologies using combined treatment facilities with a unique system of rotary biological treatment;
  • install energy-efficient equipment;
  • stop pollution of the natural environment with untreated sewage.

The message emphasized that in 2023, 15 million hryvnias will be allocated for construction from the regional environmental protection fund and 10 million hryvnias from the local budget. Solonkivska TG also submitted a project application to the cross-border cooperation program Interreg NEXT "Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027" in order to receive additional funds. The buildings should be built by the end of 2025.

"The goal of the project is to implement modern wastewater treatment technologies with the use of energy-efficient equipment and maximum provision of wastewater treatment," said Acting Director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration Oksana Viyty. "As a result, pollution of the Malechkovychka River will be stopped which flows into the Shchyrka River – the Dniester basin, and Lake Navaria".

She added that the project will allow connecting about 9,000 residents of the villages of Solonka, Navaria, and Malechkovichi to the drainage system.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Lviv Region construction of sewerage networks in the city of Glynyany, which began in 2014, is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in October they plan to complete the global reconstruction of sewage treatment plants which is being carried out for the first time since their construction in 1974.
