In other parts of the city, unhealthy air quality was recorded, or unhealthy for sensitive groups.

During this level of air pollution, people are advised to refrain from walking, do not open windows and use air purifiers.

Dust particles PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 are very small and can penetrate into the lungs and blood causing a number of diseases:

  • pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases;
  • some types of cancer;
  • neurodegenerative diseases;
  • decrease in immune response;
  • increasing the risk of premature death.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Ivano-Frankivsk on Tuesday, January 9, air quality deteriorated sharply, namely the level of PM2.5 dust reached 158 (harmful level).

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a study by the European Environment Agency showed that on the continent at least 1,200 children die every year from the effects of breathing in polluted air.
