During the year, 55 unauthorized landfills were discovered in Kyiv and the region

In 2023, environmental inspectors in Kyiv region found the largest unauthorized landfill on communal land in Yahotyn, in Boryspil district.

The landfill covers 11.3 hectares, and the average height of the waste piles is more than 2 meters, the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Capital District reports on Facebook.

"This unaesthetic and terrible place was discovered and recorded by eco-inspectors in December 2023 during raids," the report said.

It is noted that during 2023, eco-inspectors in the Kyiv region conducted about 380 "raids", that is, activities unrelated to the implementation of state supervision (control) activities.

The press service added that 55 unauthorized landfills were discovered during the raids in Kyiv and the region.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in October in Buch, Kyiv region, the police exposed local entrepreneurs who provided garbage collection services, but took the waste to a forest strip.Each violator faces a fine of up to 1,360 hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in August in Kyiv, in the Mykyl forest, which is under the care of the KP "Darnytskyi Lisoparkove Gospodarstvo", local residents found a lot of old clothes, household garbage, car tires and even the cigarettes of homeless people.
