The SPP will reduce annual carbon emissions by 2.4 million tons

The world's largest solar power plant with a capacity of 2 GW was launched in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.

SPP consists of 4 million double-sided solar panels, reports TaiyangNews.

It is noted that this power plant increased the solar capacity in Abu Dhabi to 3.2 GW. It will be able to provide green energy to about 200,000 families, as well as reduce annual carbon emissions by 2.4 million tons.

"We expect to develop an additional 1GW of new solar projects in Abu Dhabi every year for the next 10 years as part of our strategic plan to rapidly accelerate the decarbonisation of energy production," said Emirates Water and Electricity Company CEO Othman Al – Ali.

He added that the UAE plans to become a world leader in the field of solar energy and promote the economic development and green transition of other countries.

The article emphasized that the SES was opened on the eve of the COP28 international climate summit.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the largest plant in the world was launched, which will annually process 2 million tons of waste into energy with a capacity of 220 MWh.
