Coronation is still very popular throughout Ukraine

In Kharkiv, eco-inspectors imposed a fine on responsible person of the communal enterprise "Blagoustrii" for tree crowning, i.e. pruning "under the trunk", on Kashirska Street.

Officials allowed damage to trees to the point of stopping growth, the State Environmental Inspection in the Kharkiv region reports on Facebook.

The message emphasized that Article 153 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses stipulates a fine for the destruction or damage of green areas, individual trees, shrubs, lawns, flower gardens and other landscaping objects within the boundaries of settlements.

It is worth noting that this is not the only fact of tree crowning in Kharkiv.

Local eco-activist Iryna Kravchenko said on her Facebook page that this is not the first time that utility workers have been brought to administrative responsibility. In 2023, eco-inspectors fined KP "Kharkiv Repair and Construction Enterprise" for pruning under the trunk.

"I am now happy that people are writing to the eco-inspection regarding barbaric pruning. After all, the eco-inspection works only at the request of citizens," she said.

Kravchenko emphasized that after cutting 12 trees around the house at 134/16 Akademik Pavlov in 2019, 3 survived until 2023.

However, crowning is still very popular throughout Ukraine, although most of these trees die in a few years.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kharkiv, eco-activist Artem Prykhodko appealed to Mayor Igor Terekhov with demands to stop the barbaric crowning of trees in the city.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kharkiv in May on the embankment, the crowns of 18 out of 19 trees were completely cut off, turning them into trunks.
