The lake disappeared, in particular, due to the construction of a high-rise building, which was never completed

The unique Blue Lake has dried up in Kyiv which is in the Podilsky district near the Vynogradar residential area.

Money for his rescue was also allocated from the city budget several years ago, activist Mykhailo Storozhuk reports on Facebook.

He emphasized that the ecosystem of the lake has been almost irreversibly destroyed.

"The Blue Lake on Vinohradar has completely dried up and died. The pearl of the district. The place where I grew up. Marsh turtles and many other species of animals once lived and bred here," Storozhuk wrote.

According to him, the lake disappeared due to the construction of a high-rise building, which was never completed.

"It's a pity, because the lake gave its life for the construction of a terrible gray high-rise building, which was never brought to order. One of the many high-rise buildings in the city. And there was only one such lake, there is no other like it and there will never be," the activist added.

It is worth noting that over the last 40 years Lake Sinye has become very shallow due to construction and an increase in air temperature. In May, its clearing and beautification was included in the list of environmental protection measures for 2023. KMDA promised to make every effort to save this unique reservoir.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kyiv, the utility company held a tender for the survey and clearing of the Lybidi underground stream, the cost of which reached 14.6 million hryvnias. The winner was the only tender participant.
