Such pollution is caused by fires and industrial emissions

In Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih on the morning of Friday, September 29, in the air, the concentration of suspended particles (dust) PM2.5 exceeded 100 AQI.

This level of pollution is dangerous for all people, shows the online air quality map SaveEcoBot.

In Kyiv, excess dust concentrations were found in three districts, namely:

  • Mykola Shepeleva Street, 10 (Solomyansky district) – 109 ACHI ;
  • Kharkivskyi Shosse, 7/1 (Dniprovsky district) – 105;
  • 26 Architektora Verbytskyi Street (Darnytskyi district) – 109.

Excess concentrations of suspended particles in other cities:

  • Lviv, 12-104 Trolleybusna Street;
  • Khmelnytskyi, 13-107 Torfyan street;
  • Chernivtsi, Smal-Stotskogo Street, 4 – 103;
  • Kryvyi Rih, 5-116 Ivan Avramenko Street.

As you know, this type of dust is formed as a result of fires and industrial emissions. PM particles are very small (between 2.5 and 10 microns). Therefore, they can get into the blood and lungs and cause serious diseases, including cancer.

With such air pollution, negative consequences can be felt by everyone, and for people from vulnerable groups, they can be more serious. Residents of the districts should not ventilate the premises and, if possible, not go outside.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that air pollution to one degree or another can affect the development of diseases of the heart, lungs, diabetes, dementia, and lead to liver problems. Toxic air affects the reproductive system, the development of embryos and children.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a study by the European Environment Agency showed that on the continent at least 1,200 children die every year from the effects of breathing in polluted air.
