A 600 kW rooftop solar power plant was installed on the roof of one of the largest industrial plants in Vinnytsia, GreenCool LLC, which manufactures refrigeration equipment.
The SPP will be able to fully support the operation of the plant during the day during May-September, the Vinnytsia City Council reports on Facebook.
Deputy Mayor Andriy Ocheretny said that a number of community enterprises have installed solar panels, the total capacity of which reaches 8 MW.
"Now we have a real substitution of traditional energy sources and this overlaps with the European Green Course declared by Vinnytsia. Therefore, in the event of blackouts in winter, 10-20% of the generated electricity will be able to replace the needs of enterprises that have already taken this path," he said.
Ocheretny added that the community has a micro-business support program for compensation of up to 1 million hryvnias for the installation of SES. The program is planned to be expanded to small and medium-sized businesses.
"This will help us become energy independent from external factors in such difficult times," he emphasized.
Director of GreenCool Valentyn Kovalenko said that the construction of the HPP at the plant was planned even during its construction about five years ago. However, it was not economically feasible at that time.
"Last winter showed how dependent we all are on energy supply, so this summer we implemented our project," he said. – We implemented everything at our own expense, but we fall under the bank program "5.7.9" and we hope that we will receive refinancing for the costs of solar panels."
Earlier, Ecopolitic wrote, that in January 2022, Vinnytsia urban territorial community was the first in Ukraine to announce the Green Course within the framework of the European Green Course (EGC).
