Over 500 days of full-scale war in Ukraine, almost 2,500 cases of war-related environmental damage were recorded. The total damage is estimated at 52 billion euros.
This was discussed during the meeting of the working group on the practical implementation of the principles of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's Peace Formula, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko said on Facebook.
"For more than 500 days of full-scale war, almost 2,500 cases of environmental damage caused by the war were recorded. The total damage is estimated at 52 billion euros. Due to the invasion of Russia, 174,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian land are potentially contaminated with explosive objects," the message said.
She emphasized that the key goals of environmental security within the framework of the Peace Formula are damage assessment, holding Russia accountable and climate transformation of the Ukrainian economy.
