As a result of Russia's missile attack on the Vocational Technical Institute in Sumy, the state suffered losses in the amount of UAH 160.2 million.

Such calculations are provided by the State Environmental Inspection on Facebook.

On July 29, the Russian army launched a missile attack on the Vocational Technical Education Institute in Sumy. A fire broke out at the point of impact, and it was quickly extinguished. However, it was not possible to completely avoid emissions of toxic substances into the atmospheric air – eco-inspectors established the fact of minor pollution and calculated 12,000 hryvnias in damages.

According to the SEI, the greatest damage to the environment was caused by the clogging of several open plots of land with waste. Ruins of buildings and structures littered the territory, the total area of which reached almost two hectares.

Thus, as a result of the clogging, losses to the amount of UAH 160.2 million were caused to the state. Currently, this is the largest amount of damages calculated based on the fact of soil pollution within the Sumy region during the martial law, noted the SEI.

They also added that buildings and structures of an educational institution, a religious organization, and the residential sector were destroyed and damaged.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the Russian occupiers are going to spend 1.3 billion rubles on the equipment of garbage dumps in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
