The city will also purchase high-speed charging stations for electric buses

Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov said that the city will purchase about 30 modern electric buses for public transport routes.

A loan of €15 million for the purchase of new buses will be provided by the European Investment Bank at a very low interest rate, reports Kharkiv City Council on Telegram.

Terekhov said that Kharkiv will be the first city in Ukraine to mass launch electric buses.

"We agreed, and they [EIB] very quickly allocated this loan so that we could buy electric buses and fast charging stations for them, which will be installed around the city. For this, we were allocated €15 million at a very low interest rate, and with these funds we we expect to purchase about 30 modern electric buses. They will become the feature of Kharkiv," he said.

Terekhov added that the city will continue to update other public transport as well. Thus, Kharkiv has agreements on the purchase of modern trams, trolleybuses and trains for the metro.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, Kharkov Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that the city plans to use a number of green technologies, in order to have cheap electricity. This will help not to raise fares for city electric transport, as well as tariffs for other communal services.
