The local Roma take money for the fact that violators leave garbage in spontaneous landfills

In Transcarpathia, a minibus driver was found who brought about 10 bags of garbage to a spontaneous landfill near the Roma settlement of Uzhhorod.

Eco-inspectors noticed the violator when he started throwing bags in the green zone, the State Environmental Inspection in Zakarpattia region reports on Facebook.

The press service said that eco-inspectors recently conducted a raid in Uzhhorod Oblast, where they discovered improvised garbage dumps. Probably, the violators assumed that after the raid, their crimes against the environment would not be noticed.

The driver of the minibus said that the local Roma take money for the fact that the violators leave garbage at natural landfills.

"The unexpected visit of ecologists was a bolt from the blue for the driver. Based on this fact, the violator was brought to justice," the press service said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the director of one of the communal enterprises of Rakhiv Oblast will be tried in Transcarpathia, whose official negligence led to the growth of an unauthorized landfill on the banks of the Tysa River. This caused damage in the amount of more than 6.5 million hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors recorded almost 1,500 violations in the field of waste management in 11 months of 2022, which caused environmental damage of about 700 million hryvnias.
