It is noted that the Aid Program was discussed at a working meeting by First Deputy Minister Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi and FAO representatives.

The message said that the Program will include:

  • restoration of objects that were damaged as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation;
  • assistance in assessing damages and losses as a result of the war;
  • assistance in the development of an action plan for the implementation of the State Forestry Development Strategy;
  • improvement of electronic accounting of wood and forest management;
  • adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU legislation in the field of forestry;
  • multifunctional use of forests and its reflection in forest management materials, etc.

The press service added that the participants of the meeting also discussed assistance in demining de-occupied territories and restoration of destroyed green areas.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the UN European Economic Commission adopted the resolution "Economic and social consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine" regarding the restoration of the country and overcoming the environmental consequences of the war.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Russian occupiers in the occupied Ukrainian territories, in addition to grain, also stole wood, cutting down forests. They use felled trees both for strengthening positions and for commercial purposes.
