One of the laws of ecology: nature should not be helped, it should not be disturbed

The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets said the agency is in talks to establish a dolphin rehabilitation center to help the animals survive.

During the full-scale war, more than 100 dead dolphins were found on the coasts controlled by Ukraine, Strelets said in an interview for the Voice of America.

He emphasized that the dolphins were blown up by mines, blinded by the navy's sonars and disoriented and washed ashore. The rehabilitation center will help restore the dolphin population.

The shooter noted that Ukraine has lost part of its ecosystems, animals and plants forever.

"I'm talking about the spoiled emerald territories and those objects of the nature reserve fund, which the "rashists" used as a parking lot for tanks. We will have serious challenges regarding the assessment of what happened there," the minister emphasized.

He added that it is possible, for example, to plant a new forest in the place of a destroyed one. However, it will recover after several generations.

"We will simply have to reserve a lot of territories and ensure a quiet regime so that nature can restore itself. Because one of the laws of ecology: nature should not be helped, it should not be hindered," Streiets emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that scientists from the national natural park "Tuzlivski Lymani" developed a scientific rationale for the creation of a large marine reserve for cetaceans after the war, so that dolphins would have the opportunity to reproduce.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a pod of bottlenose dolphins was spotted in Odesa in the Black Sea. These are the first dolphins that, despite the war, returned after hibernation.
