Eco-inspectors discovered in Khmelnytskyi region the most high-profile violation of environmental protection legislation during the week from February 10 to 16, namely the felling of trees worth more than 1.7 million hryvnias.

During this period, environmental violators caused damage to the amount of 2,276 thousand hryvnias, the State Environmental Inspection reports on Facebook.

The report said that in Khmelnytskyi region, unidentified persons cut down 17 trees within the botanical natural monument of local importance "Ogrudok" in Shepetivskyi district. The case materials were handed over to the regional prosecutor's office.

The press service emphasized that from February 10 to 16, eco-inspectors conducted 51 environmental protection measures and drew up 127 protocols on administrative offenses.

It is noted that over 1.5 million hryvnias were collected voluntarily and forcibly during this period.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the city of Dunaivtsi in the Khmelnytskyi region, the illegal felling of five trees of different species in the protective forest strip was discovered, which caused damage of 36.4 thousand hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors for 11 months of 2022 calculated more than 1.53 billion hryvnias in damages to the environment caused by violators of environmental legislation. That is, eco-violators caused more than 4.5 million hryvnias of damage to nature every day.
