Ukrainians were urged to use environmentally friendly means during cleaning, which will help save money, preserve health and nature.

On its Facebook page, the Kyiv "Waste Management Center" published 4 basic rules for eco-cleaning.

"In conditions of constant stress, cleaning can become one of the activities that help to ground and return a sense of control over life," the authors noted.

In order for home care to be ecological, they advised:

  • Check the composition of the means;

The authors emphasized that more and more environmentally friendly products are appearing on store shelves. Before buying, be sure to read the information on the label the products must have appropriate environmental certificates, and the composition must not contain phosphates, chlorine and aggressive surface-active substances.

  • Hand over empty containers for recycling;

Most types of containers from household chemicals can be recycled, and those that are not subject to it can be safely incinerated.

  • Choose biodegradable alternatives;

The report emphasized that used foam sponges and plastic brushes will decompose in a landfill for hundreds of years. However, they can be replaced with rags made of natural fabric, cellulose washcloths or a loofah – a natural sponge made from the fibrous fruits of one type of squash.

  • Make your own detergent.

"Ordinary baking soda, citric acid and household soap can replace a dozen detergents for various purposes. And in addition, they will help to save a lot of money", noted the authors.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, ecoactivists told how to wash windows without harming the environment.
