Cheap and eco-friendly corrugated cardboard is strong enough to send gifts to loved ones

Specialists of the all-Ukrainian youth eco-movement Let's do it Ukraine have prepared 3 ideas for ecological and budget gifts, and also called to abandon unnecessary packaging in favor of eco-alternatives that can be reused.

Although there are many options for current gifts, for example, eco-mugs, power banks with solar batteries, etc., in 2023, the biggest trend is gifts from Ukrainian manufacturers and hand-made, reports Let's do it Ukraine on Facebook.

"Gifts for the New Year's holidays are a wonderful tradition that is adored by everyone without exception," the authors emphasized.

They called for replacing traditional packaging with eco-bags made of recycled materials, burlap or wrapping paper. You can fasten it all with a rope, leftover yarn or tape. You can decorate the packaging with spruce branches, cones, nuts, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks or anise stars.

"Also, pay attention to corrugated cardboard, this material, in addition to environmental friendliness and cheapness, has another advantage – it is strong enough to send gifts to loved ones abroad," the article emphasized.

  • Candles

The authors noted that such a gift is more relevant than ever. They can be made from wax, which is much more environmentally friendly than ordinary paraffin. You can twist such a candle from wax or melt the wax and pour it into a mold.

  • Massage pillow

Such a gift can be stuffed with buckwheat husks, which, in addition to being environmentally friendly, will have a calming effect. You can sew it yourself and decorate it with buttons, threads, beads, applique, etc.

  • Knitted gifts

"Currently, knitted items are in trend. You can also connect an item of clothing, an accessory, or an element of home decor," the authors said.

They emphasized that you can use purchased yarn, dissolve unnecessary knitted items, or cut old T-shirts into strips.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the eco-activists called on Ukrainians not to destroy live trees to celebrate Christmas and New Year, but to create creative festive eco-composition from spikelets, paper, nets, etc. Such Christmas trees will save forests and the environment, and their production will create a festive mood for the whole family.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the festive atmosphere, decorations and gifts can be ecological and do not harm the environment. Environmentalists have prepared tips on how to meet New Year in zero waste style.
