Nefco Green Recovery will provide financing and technical support to Ukrainian municipalities

Finland will allocate €5 million for the green recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine as part of the Green Recovery program.

This will make it possible to implement more ecological and energy-efficient solutions, as well as projects of post-war green reconstruction and overcoming the humanitarian crisis, reports Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.

It is noted that in the long term, the program will support the green transition of Ukraine by reducing the use of fossil fuels.

The message explained that currently, about 40% of the energy infrastructure in Ukraine has been destroyed, and about 16 million people need help with water, sanitation and hygiene.

"Finland responds to the plight of Ukrainians and directs funding through the Northern Environmental Finance Corporation (Nefco) for the repair and reconstruction of schools, kindergartens, housing services, medical services and others," the press service emphasized.

The authors added that Nefco Green Recovery will provide Ukrainian municipalities with financing and technical support for projects that will contribute to the recovery of the country after the war and humanitarian crisis in the direction of a long-term "green" transition.

Finland's Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Wille Skinnari emphasized the importance of taking into account gender equality and the needs of people with disabilities when rebuilding infrastructure.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets said that the European Commission and the US State Department are already supporting post-war reconstruction projects environment in Ukraine.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, it was opened in Irpen in the Kyiv region a solar station with electricity storage systems on the roof of the Lyceum "Dream", as part of the "100 solar schools" project.
