Irpen does not have the necessary infrastructure for waste sorting

The community of the city of Irpin, in the Kyiv region, calls for the installation of containers for the separate collection of garbage in every yard of high-rise buildings, so that it ends up in waste processing plants, and not landfills.

The corresponding petition was registered at e-democracy platform.

So far, the initiative has collected 12 signatures out of the required 300, but the collection will continue for another 75 days.

The author of the petition, Iryna Myronyuk, emphasized that there are many children in the community. Parents are trying provide them with everything necessary, but not a clean environment.

"It hurts to watch when clean cardboard boxes, glass and plastic bottles go to the landfill. It is not difficult to throw it into another garbage container – especially that one that will be nearby," she said.

Myronyuk also said that she sorts the garbage herself. However, the woman is forced to take him to Kyiv, because there is no necessary infrastructure in Irpen.

"Let's show our concern for the future of our children with serious, mature actions," she urged.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrtote, that Kyivans for 8 months of full-scale war handed over 80 thousand cubic meters of waste for processing, which is equal to the content of 700 special garbage trucks.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, garbage collection tournament "Eco Show" was held in the city of Irpin. According to the results of the environmental campaign, the activists collected 133 bags of waste.
