About 4,000 containers for various types of waste operate in Kyiv

During the 8 months of the full-scale war, the people of Kyiv handed over 80,000 cubic meters of waste for processing, which is equal to the contents of 700 special garbage trucks.

This waste is guaranteed not to end up in landfills, because it was taken to sorting lines and stations, reports KMDA.

The message noted that despite the difficulties of martial law, the municipal enterprise "Kyivcomunservice" and subcontractors carrying out waste removal in the capital continue to provide the opportunity to sort waste.

"Thank you to the people of Kyiv who, even in such a difficult time, continue to sort household waste and send it to containers for separate collection," said Petro Panteleev, deputy head of KMDA.

He said that there are about 4,000 containers for various types of waste in Kyiv, including:

  • paper;
  • plastic;
    glass;
  • hazardous waste, including used batteries, thermometers, lamps, medical waste, etc

Communal workers noted that at the beginning of the full-scale war, the volumes of collected sorted waste decreased. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes, which reduced the total amount of waste generated

However, many residents and internally displaced persons have now returned to the city. Therefore, the volumes of generated garbage also increase.

"The enterprise works stably and is ready to ensure the disposal of waste generated in the capital," they emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv region they will build two waste processing plants for the cluster solution of waste problems of three communities, which will cost $117 million.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Bucha, in the Kyiv region, citizens were called upon squeeze plastic bottles as tightly as possible, to save space in collection containers and fuel for special vehicles.
