In the air of Kyiv during the week with November 21 to 26, 2022, a 4.6-fold exceedance of the daily maximum allowable concentrations of nitrogen dioxide was found.
Compared to the previous week, the level of nitrogen dioxide pollution has decreased , says the weekly report on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.
According to the data of the observatory, the exceeding of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:
- 3.0-4.6 times (November 24-25) – on Demiivska Square, Peremogy Avenue, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets;
- in 1.1-2.7 times – on Bessarabska Square, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, Obolonsky Prospect, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin streets;
- no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).
Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:
- in 1.4-2.9 times – on Demiivska and Bessarabska squares, Obolonsky and Peremogy avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska (intersection with Vaclav Havel boulevard), Engineer Borodin, Kaunaska, Hetman Pavla Polubotka and Semena streets Sklyarenko;
- no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).
Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:
- formaldehyde – 1.0-2.0 times on Demiivska and Bessarabska squares, Obolonskyi and Peremogy avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Akademik Strazheska, Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets;
- carbon monoxide – 1.1 times (November 24) on Peremogy Avenue;
- suspended substances – 1.0 times (November 22) on Kaunaska and Semena Sklyarenko streets.
Specialists of the observatory collected and analyzed 1149 samples of atmospheric air from 15 stationary posts.
