During the week of October 10-14, Russian troops damaged about 30% of the energy infrastructure

Ukrainians were urged to consume energy sparingly and save it, because, in addition to reducing the load on the networks, this will lead to economic benefits and improve the state of the environment.

That is why energy saving will be relevant even after the victory of Ukraine, reports the "Waste Management Center" on Facebook.

"This year, a difficult winter will await all of us, and we must be ready for similar situations," emphasized the specialists of the Waste Management Center.

They also emphasized that during the week of October 10-14, Russian troops damaged about 30% of the energy infrastructure and reducing electricity consumption will help stabilize it.

They explained that organic fuel, in particular coal, oil, gas, is usually used to generate electricity. When they are burned, carbon dioxide, sulfur and carbon monoxide gases are released, as well as dust, soot and other pollutants. All this pollutes the environment and contributes to climate change.

"Replacing only 1 incandescent lamp with an energy-saving one saves about 100 kg of coal," the article emphasized.

What else can be done to save electricity:

  • when leaving the room, turn off the light;
  • turn off electrical appliances from sockets if you are not using them;
  • replace all light bulbs with LEDs;
  • use household appliances of energy efficiency class A+ or higher;
  • insulate the house;
  • boil only the necessary amount of water in the electric kettle;
  • switch the boiler to economical mode;
  • use table lamps or floor lamps in order not to waste energy on fully lighting the room;
  • wipe light bulbs and shades and wash windows more often, because dust can "eat" up to 20% of the emitted light;
  • use washing machines and dishwashers in full load mode;
  • regularly defrost the refrigerator and do not put hot food in it.

The experts of the Center for the Environment also advised to turn on energy-consuming appliances, such as heaters, washing machines, boilers, dishwashers, etc., at night, when the level of electricity consumption is the lowest.

As EcoPolitic reported previously, specialists of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving prepared for Ukrainians energy efficiency hacks and tips, which are used all over the world.
