Some Ukrainian projects will be able to receive co-financing already in 2022

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday, September 20, approved Draft Law No. 0167 "On the ratification of the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on Ukraine's participation in the EU LIFE Program – Environment and Climate Action Program" submitted by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The ratification of the Agreement opened the country to sources of funding that were previously unavailable, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.

"In the conditions of resistance to Russian aggression, when almost all financial resources go to the defense of the country, the partnership within the framework of the LIFE program is extremely important and a priority for the protection and restoration of the environment," said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets.

The message noted that due to the co-financing of LIFE, Ukraine will have more opportunities to restore damaged or destroyed natural ecosystems, build animal rehabilitation centers and revitalize rivers, etc.

Strelets also added that for 2022, the European Commission announced 34 tenders worth €598 million. And a number of Ukrainian projects have already been selected for participation in the Program competition, some of which may receive co-financing already in 2022.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in June Ukraine joined the environmental protection European program LIFE, within which he will be able to receive financing for the environment.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the EU promised to take over the main role in the green reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.
