In 2023, the budget of the Ministry of Environment will decrease by 7% to 10.8 billion hryvnias, compared to 11.6 billion hryvnias in 2022.
Such a project of the State Budget was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday, September 13.
She noted that in 2023 they plan to collect 45% less eco-tax – 2.7 billion hryvnias compared to the expected 4.9 billion hryvnias in 2022. Of them, 1.6 billion hryvnias go to the general fund of the State Budget.
The biggest cost reduction:
- -51% for environmental protection measures – 111 million hryvnias, compared to 228 million hryvnias in 2022;
Boyko emphasized that eco-tax funds, in addition to carbon tax, should be spent specifically on environmental protection measures.
- -18% on salaries;
- -9% for measures to reduce CO2 emissions, 10.5 million hryvnias, compared to 11.5 million hryvnias in 2022.
In addition, the budgets of the following departments will be reduced in 2023:
- -65% to the budget of the State Geological Survey, in particular, the development of the mineral and raw material base is no longer provided for;
- -19% to the budget of the State Inspectorate.
However, in the State Budget for 2023, expenses for the preservation of the nature reserve fund have been increased – from 665 million hryvnias in 2022 to 668 million hryvnias.
