This will help the state monitor the generation of emissions and the transfer of pollutants in time and space

On Thursday, August 11, the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommended the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to adopt in the second reading the government draft law No. 6477 about the National register of emissions and transfer of pollutants.

In the first reading, the document was approved on July 18, 2022, it is reported by Ministry of Environment on Telegram.

The document introduces the legal and organizational principles for the creation and operation of the national register of pollutant emissions and transfers (RPET).

This will help the state to monitor the generation of emissions and the transfer of pollutants in time and space, as well as to analyze the reduction of emissions and establish priorities in the reduction and elimination of potentially the most harmful emissions.

"Back in 2016, Ukraine ratified the Kyiv Protocol of the Aarhus Convention, committing to conduct its environmental policy openly, interact with citizens and involve them in solving environmental issues," the Ministry of Environment explained.

The article noted that the adoption of relevant legislation and the creation of the National register of emissions and transfer of pollutants is an international obligation of Ukraine.

As reported EcoPolitic earlier, on July 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved in the first reading government draft law No. 6477 about the National register of emissions and transfer of pollutants.
