A green zone can become an outpost for resistance, and in peacetime it can improve health

In Irpen, in the Kyiv region, developers want to turn 8 hectares of the forest of the "Lastivka" sanatorium into a residential area for citizens who lost their homes.

"Lastivka" is one of the few green zones in the city, reports the environmental protection organization "Ekodiya" on Facebook.

"The developers have already set their eyes on the money for reconstruction," the article noted.

All but one of the factions supported the development proposal at one of the recent city council sessions.

Then the community demanded not to vote for the development of a detailed plan of the "Lastivka" territory and offered alternatives for resettling the victims.

"It is very easy to make a high-rise from a recreational area. On the contrary, no one has yet succeeded. Only this war has shown that when the enemy comes, the green zone can become an outpost for resistance, and in peacetime, it is the health of our children," the message said.

The article emphasized that this spring, it was the flood of the Irpin River and the Belichany forest saved from developers that became Kyiv's natural shield.

The Irpen community demands that the authorities take into account the opinion of the city's residents and offers its own vision of the city's development.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Barodyanka is planned to be rebuilt as one of the first new eco-towns, all systems of which will work on modern energy-efficient technologies

As EcoPolitic previously reported, head The Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, said that the destruction of the Irpin dam caused enormous damage for the environment and settlements.
