The eXERO TM process will help decarbonize and increase the sustainability of the global energy market

In the US, Utility Global has invented the industry's first non-electrical electrolysis technology platform for converting low-cost Net Zero hydrogen.

The company plans to use the eXERO process for next-generation fuels, environmentally friendly chemicals, sustainable metallurgical and oil refining industries, reports H2 View.

Utility Global noted that the eXERO process TM (Electroless Coupled Exchange Reduction Oxidation) is a step forward in decarbonization and increasing the sustainability of the global energy market. The company is likely to move towards commercializing the platform across multiple product lines.

"Utility Global is an innovator in the field of ecologically clean hydrogen," the article says.

Patented eXERO process TM is the first time a zero-electricity electrolysis process converts sustainable waste streams directly into high-purity, low-cost hydrogen.

The process is achieved by removing the external electrical circuit from the electrolyzer and instead controlling the reaction using the overpotential (voltage) that exists between the different gas compositions.

Similar to a conventional solid oxide electrolyser, water is reduced at the cathode to hydrogen and oxygen ions. The oxygen ions are then transferred through an electrolyte that conducts the oxygen ions. However, unlike a conventional electrochemical reactor, electrons are transferred through a conductive phase within the electrolyte, rather than through an external circuit.

Earlier EcoPolitic wrote, that the US Department of Energy (DOE) has published a notice of intent to finance regional centers of pure hydrogen (H2Hubs) for $8 billion across the country.

As  EcoPolitic previously reported, Shell plans to build in the Netherlands the largest factory in Europe from the production of green hydrogen Holland Hyrdoge, which will produce 60,000 kilograms of hydrogen per day.
