German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has proposed the creation of an international climate club, which will address the issue of accelerating the abandonment of fossil fuels.

The German Chancellor made such a proposal in an official podcast on Saturday site government.

"Russia's brutal war against Ukraine is also affecting us: many of the things we buy have become more expensive - food, but energy prices have risen especially," Scholz said, adding that oil and gas have become much more expensive than a year ago.

Scholz noted that at the G7 summit it is important to discuss ending man-made climate change.

"This is what we must do by abandoning the use of fossil fuels in the long run. And so one of the tasks will be, for example, to create a climate club in which countries that want to achieve this will work together," he said.

According to him, such a club could work in the G6 format, which was assembled by Chancellor Helmut Schmidt because of the oil crisis in the 1970s.

Before EcoPolitics reported that Germany and Norway were considering the possibility construction of a hydrogen pipeline, which will connect the two countries to avoid Russian energy.
