A spokesman for the Greens said the numbers were scary

Jürgen Trittin, a member of the Bundestag Foreign Policy Committee from the Union-90/Green faction, is shocked by the fact that Germany has paid the Russian Federation 12.1 billion euros for energy supplies since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine.

This Trittin on Monday, June 13, said in an interview with Welt TV channel, reports DW .

According to the report Financing Putin's War: Importing Fossil Fuels from Russia in the First 100 Days of the Invasion, published by the Center for Energy and Clean Air Research (CREA), Germany is Europe's largest importer of Russian gas and oil.

The report says that in the first 100 days of the war against Ukraine, the Russian Federation received from the export of fossil energy sources an income of 93 billion euros.

According to the study, the EU remains the largest buyer of Russian gas and oil, accounting for 61% of Russia's fossil fuel exports, equivalent to 57 billion euros.

If we talk about individual states, China was the most important importer (12.6 billion euros), in second place was Germany (12.1 billion euros), in third place was Italy (7.8 billion euros).

"These figures are frightening," a Greens spokesman commented on the statistics. "That is why it is imperative that we now consistently implement what we have committed to do on the issue of the oil embargo."

Before EcoPolicy reported that WWF-Germany proposed steps to the Federal Government of the country that would allow rapid reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels and accelerate the energy transition.
