In New York (USA), the tallest skyscraper in the city will be built, which will be completely powered by renewable energy.

The sixty-story tower will be occupied by the new headquarters of the large bank JPMorgan Chase, reports CNN.

The building will be designed by Foster+Partners. The construction of a new 423-meter high sky dome on Park Avenue is planned to be completed by 2025. The new PMorgan Chase headquarters will be the tallest tower in Manhattan, according to the architects.

The building will be powered by the New York State Hydroelectric Power Plant. Other energy efficient features include triple glazed windows and water reuse systems that reduce consumption by up to 40%. The tower will use "intelligent building technology" using sensors to control and reduce energy consumption.

The architects at Foster+Partners noted that 97% of the building materials of the building previously on the site will be recycled or reused.

Skyscraper workers will have access to air filtration systems and non-contact technologies, as well as circadian lighting, which minimizes the impact of electric light.

About 70% of New York City's greenhouse gas emissions come from homes, according to the city. Meanwhile, New York lawmakers are considering new rules as part of the all-electric building law. The new bill is expected to reduce carbon emissions by millions of tonnes and give low-income residents access to affordable energy.

Previously, EcoPolitics wrote that on the island of Taiwan in the city of Taipei the construction of a unique skyscraper is nearing completion. A spiral building in the form of a DNA strand will be able to absorb up to 130 tons of carbon dioxide.

Recall also that in Milan (Italy) architects are planning to reconstruct the old Pirelli Tower business center which has not been used for many years, in a garden building as part of the Vertical Forest City project.
